Edit: Back-to-work essentials for the seasonal shift
Stuck between high summer and the arctic blast of the office? Allow us to walk you through the solutions.
Nothing has the same back-to-school energy as the last week of January. Even if you’ve been back at work for a couple of weeks now, there’s something about seeing the month click over to February that feels like a full stop on the antics of high summer. Sigh. But still there’s a small part of us that secretly relishes the vibe shift — if only for the promise of a new look for the new season.
A lot of you have been asking us about workwear lately. It seems to be a perennial challenge to find office-appropriate pieces that aren’t a buzzkill for your personal style. And it only gets harder when it’s 30 degrees outside and 18 degrees inside.
With that in mind, this week Soph has sourced workwear that is lightweight enough for the sweatiest of commutes, but structured and formal enough to see you through the work day — and into the cooler autumn months. Consideration was also given to pieces that are somewhat creaseproof and options to suit changing bodies (i.e. pregnancy).
In this week’s edit you’ll find:
Links to two separate mood-boards for Modern + Summer workwear
Seven classic blazers to see you through the seasons
Three cropped layers to accommodate a fluctuating thermostat
Seven chic mini dresses you’ll want to wear to after-work drinks
Seven longer midline/maxi dresses you could wear to work and on the weekend
Six non-boring collared shirts that double as wardrobe heroes
Six tops (that aren’t tees) for easy work readiness
Eleven interesting pairs of tailored trousers, including four impeccable black options
Seven skirts (the new staple of your 2025 office wardrobe)
Two of the best pairs of shorts you’ll want to wear every single day
Six pairs of heels you can actually walk in
Seven pairs of chic closed-toe flats
Nine tote bags (in black, cream, brown and merlot)
